This paper describes the formulation, design, and experimental validation of robotic transfer capabilities for the Mars Sample Return mission. It covers dexterous manipulation, continuous wrench estimation, compliant contact handling, and mechanical docking strategies developed for transferring delicate sample tubes between rovers, landers, and the Mars Ascent Vehicle.
